In honour of the 40th anniversary at Belfountain Public School, students in grades 5 and 6 worked together to create a large, colourful wall mural. Inspired by a mural recently created at Dunrankin Public School, each student painted one goose, together creating a flock of more than 60 geese in flight. But these were no ordinary geese! Each student used their imagination to create unique and delightful birds with stripes, spots, textures and much more.

The students started the project by considering elements of design and how they might be used to express feelings. Students chose descriptive words for their geese. Each student created a plan for the goose that they would add to the mural project.

The subject matter of the mural was carefully chosen for its symbolic value. When flying long distances, geese work together as a team, each supporting one-another. Likewise, students at Belfountain Public School appreciate good team work skills and aspire to be valuable team players. When we see the variety of the geese created by the students we think of the unique qualities of each young artist.
