In a curriculum aligned visual arts activity students in grade 5 participated in the mural project by painting small fish. Students learned about elements of design as they worked with the mural artist, receiving one-on-one instruction and demonstration. Students made artistic choices as they created non-representational artwork and chose from a bright colour pallette. The mural project was a collaborative effort where students created colourful patterns and designs within their small fish shapes and the mural artist painted the background, outlined all of the students’ fish and painted all of the remaining fish. |
