This mural project aligned with the Ontario Visual Arts Curriculum. Eighty intermediate students participated by designing and painting one shape within a tessellation. Students used carefully selected palettes of warm and cool colours and they used elements of design (lines, shapes, colours, textures and space) to create non-representational designs and patterns. |

They worked in small groups receiving one-on-one instruction and demonstration. Students were set up for artistic success and then their creativity was showcased. Students can now recognize their own artistic contributions within the group project. |
